How long has it been?

... Read moreIt's incredible to think about all the amazing moments my partner and I have shared over the past 13 years. When you've been together for so long, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, but taking the time to truly remember our journey together has become one of my favorite things to do. It’s like opening a treasured photo album, full of smiles, adventures, and even the silly little things that make us 'us.' One of the most powerful ways we keep our memories alive is by regularly revisiting old photos and videos. I swear, sometimes just stumbling upon a selfie from years ago, maybe one where we’re bundled up with snowflakes in the background or standing in front of vibrant green trees during a summer trip, can transport me right back to that exact feeling. We love to scroll through our phone's camera roll or even pull out old hard drives and just laugh and reminisce. It's not just about the big vacations, but also the everyday moments – cooking together, our first coffee dates, or even just a cozy night in. These visual cues are such a magical portal back to our past. Another thing we do is make a point to talk about 'remember whens.' Over dinner, on a long drive, or even just winding down for the night, one of us might say, "Hey, remember when we..." and then we're off, reliving a funny mishap, a sweet gesture, or a significant milestone. These conversations aren't just nostalgic; they actually strengthen our bond. It reminds us of how far we've come, the challenges we've overcome, and all the joy we've created together. It really helps you appreciate the person right next to you even more. We also have a few traditions that help us remember. Every anniversary, we try to visit a place that's meaningful to our relationship, or recreate an old date. One year, we went back to a small cafe in Louisiana where we had one of our earliest dates. Just being in that space again, soaking in the atmosphere, brought back a flood of emotions and sweet memories of our beginnings. It’s those small, intentional acts that keep the spark bright and our history cherished. Sometimes, I even keep a little journal where I jot down funny quotes or sweet things he says, or moments that just make my heart swell. It's a personal way for me to archive those fleeting feelings and details that might otherwise fade. And who knows, maybe one day we'll read them together! Remembering our journey isn't just about looking backward; it also inspires us to keep creating new, beautiful moments. Every new adventure, every shared laugh, every quiet evening together is another memory in the making. It's a continuous story we're writing together, and I wouldn't trade these 13 years, and all the precious memories within them, for anything. What are your favorite ways to remember moments with your significant other? I'd love to hear your traditions!
