this is a peak into some of the reptiles morning routine! rosie gets her breakfast every day but ripley only gets fed on a weekly basis.
even tho ripley decided not to eat today, i ended up misting her tank really heavy regardless because of the blue caps on her eyes. when their eyes start to turn blueish it means they are getting ready to shed and she’s about due for it anyhow.
fun fact: kenyan sand boas have been known to go on hunger strikes for as long as 9 months at a time, the males especially being the highest at risk to do so.
i had ripley sexed before i adopted her so she’s a confirmed female, unless it’s breeding season i shouldn’t have to worry too much about hunger strikes unless she’s about to shed or is shedding, like right now. I’ve gotten three sheds from her since she’s been with me :,)
