Ask me anything - Comic Con Edition ✨
I LOVE cosplaying and going to Comic Con conventions when I can. I love getting to meet different actors and actresses. I love interacting with others who are dressed too. Comic Con is just so fun and is a safe space for me to be who I am.
I really love getting to dress up as my favorite characters and putting my own spin on things.
Ask me anything about Comic Con! ✨ Maybe you’re curious about the experience or maybe you’re a first timer looking for advice!
So, you're heading to Comic Con, and "how to dress for Comic Con" is probably one of your biggest questions, right? Trust me, I've been there! After attending numerous conventions, from smaller local events to huge ones like MegaCon Orlando, I've picked up a few invaluable tips on styling yourself for the ultimate con experience. It's not just about looking good; it's about comfort, practicality, and expressing your fandom! First things first, comfort is king – or queen! You'll be doing a lot of walking, standing, and navigating crowded halls. Stylish sneakers or comfortable boots are your best friends. Leave the brand new, un-broken-in shoes at home, no matter how perfect they look with your outfit. I learned this the hard way at my first big con! Layers are also crucial. Convention centers can be notoriously unpredictable – freezing in one hall, sweltering in another. A light jacket or a cardigan that you can easily tie around your waist or stuff into a small bag is a lifesaver. Now, let's talk cosplay. This is where the magic truly happens! If you're a first-timer, don't feel pressured to come in a full, elaborate costume. Many people start with 'cosplay lite' – a character-inspired outfit or a themed ensemble. For instance, you could wear a great graphic tee featuring your favorite character like Obi-Wan Kenobi or an R2-D2, paired with some themed accessories. I often love adding personal touches like a flower crown or funky glasses to my outfits, which you might've seen in my photos! If you do want to dive into full cosplay, my advice is to pick a character you genuinely love and feel comfortable portraying. Don't stress about perfection; it's about passion! You can buy pre-made costumes, or for DIY enthusiasts, thrift stores and online tutorials are amazing resources. Remember to consider portability for any props – a lightsaber is cool, but make sure it’s allowed by convention rules and easy to carry around all day. I've seen some incredible homemade Chewbacca costumes that look amazing without being overly cumbersome. What if cosplay isn't your jam? No problem! Many attendees opt for casual con attire that still shows off their geeky pride. Think band t-shirts, superhero hoodies, or even just clothing in your favorite fandom's colors. The goal is to feel good and embrace the atmosphere. I've seen people meet actors like Justin Briner and Christopher Sabat looking fantastic in just a well-chosen graphic tee and jeans. It’s all about showcasing your personality. Finally, don't forget your "survival kit" for your outfit. A mini sewing kit (for unexpected rips!), safety pins, and a small lint roller can be lifesavers. A portable phone charger is non-negotiable for all those photo ops. And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – a reusable water bottle is a must, especially if you're wearing a warmer costume. Ultimately, dressing for Comic Con is about having fun and expressing yourself in a safe, welcoming environment. Whether you're in a full Barney suit or just a fan tee, wear what makes you happy and confident. The most important accessory is your enthusiasm!
