What’s a pet memoryyou will never forget?
I know we start to think a lot about our babies we’ve lost during the holidays sometimes. But let’s honor our babies by sharing our favorite memories with them.
This was Kitty. She lived a long life of 17 years old! Had her since I was a kid and she passed the week before Christmas a few years back. She was the best. Always so cuddly and sweet. She was loving. She was all of our best friend.
One of favorite memories is how she’d ALWAYS come to my dang food plates and just snag a bite! She’d literally steal food off my plate or swipe it with her paw. 😂 I’d be fighting with her over my chicken or whatever I was eating. But those moments always had me laughing so hard. She was the only cat who got along with our other cat Rey. She kind of took a mother role when we brought him home after he almost got run over on a highway.
Rey is a whopping 13 years old now and just a lazy old man.
What are some of your cherished pet memories? ❤️
The holiday season can be a bittersweet time for pet owners who have lost their fur babies. It’s natural to feel a mix of joy and sadness, especially when memories come flooding back. Many find comfort by celebrating the happy moments, just like Karem did with memories of her cat Kitty. Cats, like dogs and other pets, often become lifelong companions, and their unique personalities leave lasting impressions on our hearts. One of the most endearing memories pet owners share involves the quirky habits pets develop, such as Kitty sneaking bites off her owner’s plate or defending a new companion like Rey. These small, everyday interactions build a bond that is cherished long after a pet has passed away. It’s wonderful to remember that pets not only bring joy but also contribute to a loving family environment by providing emotional support and companionship. For anyone who has lost a pet, creating new traditions during the holidays can help honor their memory. This could include sharing stories with friends and family, creating photo albums, or lighting a candle in their honor. Supporting one another through shared grief and celebrating the happy memories can be healing. Ultimately, the best pet memories are those filled with love, laughter, and connection, like Kitty’s motherly role to Rey or the playful food fights over a chicken bite. These stories resonate deeply because they highlight the unique bond we share with our animals—a bond that endures beyond their time with us. What cherished memories do you have that keep your beloved pets close in spirit?

I have so many great memories with my dog! One of my favorites was giving her a Thanksgiving meal each year ❤️
