Do you think the ring price matters?
I got engaged in 2021. He proposed at Magic Kingdom on Main Street when the castle was all lit up after the final show of happily ever after. And the best part was all the Disney friends were up on the bridge when he went down on one knee! I’ll never forget. I love Main Street and MK. So this was a really special moment. 🥹❤️
The ring he gave me was a ring his dad had given him. It wasn’t anything special, really. It wasn’t crazy expensive or crazy cheap. It also wasn’t real silver or gold.
A year later he got me an upgraded engagement ring at Pandora in Magic Kingdom because he wanted to. He got me a sapphire stone on it.
Then for the wedding, he bought me a wedding ring from that Pandora as well.
Everyone always judged us because the original engagement ring wasn’t “expensive”. But personally, I didn’t care what the price of the ring was. It could have been a paper ring for all I say! (Any Swifty’s? 😗)
So I’m curious on your take. Do you think the price of the ring matters? Should a guy buy the most expensive ring and stones for an engagement or wedding ring?
Engagement rings have long been symbols of love and commitment, but the significance of their price continues to spark debate. Many people believe that the value of a ring lies not in its cost but in the sentiment behind it. In this shared story, the author recounts a magical proposal at Magic Kingdom, where the atmosphere and the people present made the moment unforgettable—far beyond the material worth of the ring itself. While some might expect an engagement ring to be extravagant or made from precious metals like gold or silver, this example highlights that even a simple ring passed down from family can carry deep meaning. The narrative also mentions a later upgrade to a sapphire ring from Pandora, a popular jewelry brand known for meaningful, affordable pieces, emphasizing that upgrading can be a personal choice rather than a societal expectation. This topic aligns with a broader discussion about the commercial pressures and cultural norms surrounding engagement rings. Some studies show that the average spending on engagement rings has grown over time, partly driven by marketing campaigns. However, many couples today choose to prioritize sentimental value, ethical sourcing, or budget flexibility instead. Ultimately, whether the ring is expensive or not, what matters most is the story it represents—the proposal, the shared moments, and the promises made. Many people attest that unconventional or less costly rings can be just as cherished, if not more, because they tell a unique and authentic story. If you’re wondering whether to invest heavily in an engagement or wedding ring, consider what reflects your relationship best. Focus on the meaning you want to convey and the memories you build together. A ring, whether simple or ornate, is just one part of a lifelong journey of love and support.

Personally, I don’t think the price matters. But I do feel like they should pay attention to the types of rings you like.
