What were your 2025 ramen choices?
This year, I noticed Buldak ramen make a pretty big appearance on shelves. There were tons of different flavors. I’m not much of a ramen eater and if I do, I stick to Maruchan.
My husband loves Buldak though. I’m not sure if it’s as expensive everywhere as it is here. For one pack, prices can be $8-$14.
The second photo is some yakisoba ramen that my husband is obsessed with. I wish we saw more of those types throughout the year!
Did you try any new ramen this year? Any new brands that screamed wow to you? I feel like ramen can be underrated.
Following up on my last post about the ramen shelves and asking about everyone's 2025 ramen choices, I’ve done a bit more digging into why Buldak ramen has become such a sensation, especially with all the new varieties popping up! My husband is definitely a fan, and I'm starting to understand why so many of you are too, even if I'm usually a Maruchan loyalist. It turns out, Buldak isn't just one flavor; it's a whole universe of spicy, savory goodness. I've noticed the Buldak Cream Carbonara Spicy Ramen, like the pink bags I saw, is incredibly popular. It’s a genius combination of fiery heat from the original Buldak sauce mellowed out with a creamy, cheesy carbonara twist. It sounds like a perfect bridge for those who want to experience the kick without being completely overwhelmed, which might even be me trying it soon! Beyond the Cream Carbonara, there's a whole spectrum of Buldak ramen varieties to explore. The original Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen is the classic, known for its intense heat. Then you have flavors like the Cheese Buldak, which adds a layer of cheesy comfort, or the Kimchi Buldak for a tangy, fermented kick. I even heard about a Jjajang Buldak, which brings in that savory black bean sauce. For those who love tropical heat, the Habanero Lime flavor offers a different kind of zest. It's fascinating how many ways they've innovated on a single concept! When it comes to new Buldak flavors for 2025 and what's trending, it seems like the brand is constantly experimenting. While specific 2025 releases might still be under wraps, based on recent patterns, we can expect more fusion flavors and perhaps even collaborations. Many people are eagerly anticipating what new limited editions or seasonal flavors will hit the shelves. It's always a surprise to see what Samyang (the makers of Buldak) comes up with next! Keep an eye out in specialty Asian markets or international aisles, as they often get the newest drops first. And speaking of other delicious noodles, my husband’s love for yakisoba got me thinking about brands like Menraku Japanese Yakisoba Soy Sauce Flavor with Black Pepper & Garlic, which he absolutely adores. It’s a completely different experience from Buldak – more savory and umami-rich, often with a sweeter profile and those delicious chewy noodles. It’s a great option if you’re looking for something satisfying but less focused on extreme spice. The fact that it’s ready in just 3 minutes is a huge plus for a quick meal. I know I mentioned the price of Buldak can be high, sometimes $8-$14 for a single pack here. It definitely makes you wonder if it’s worth the splurge! My best advice for fellow ramen enthusiasts looking to try these varieties or stock up is to check international grocery stores, especially Korean markets, or buy in bulk online. Sometimes, larger packs (like the '5 BAGS' I saw mentioned in the Cream Carbonara image) offer a better per-pack price. It’s all about finding those deals to make your ramen adventure a bit more budget-friendly. What are your go-to places for finding unique ramen without breaking the bank?
