What can I do for my face? 😩

So I never really had acne or breakouts before I had my baby last August. I had the occasional hormonal breakout and whatnot during my period.

But ever since having her in August, it’s like I can’t get rid of all of this. I don’t know what my skin needs or what to even do at this point.

I’ve tried a few things but it did nothing but irritate my skin more. When it gets really red, my face will swell up a little too. There’s times where it just all feels super dry and it gets itchy.

I’ve never dealt with this. I’ve been wanting to feel more like myself again and it feels impossible when I’m fighting whatever kind of breakouts these are. ☹️

Any advice on what I can do or use to help it?

... Read moreAfter experiencing persistent breakouts and skin irritation postpartum, I realized how challenging it can be to find the right approach that truly helps. My skin, which was mostly clear before, suddenly became sensitive, red, and dry after having my baby. What helped me was first shifting to the gentlest skincare products—avoid harsh exfoliants and fragrances that can trigger itching or swelling. Using a fragrance-free, hydrating cleanser and a moisturizer with ceramides helped restore the skin barrier and reduce redness. I also incorporated products with calming ingredients like niacinamide and aloe vera, which soothe inflammation without irritating sensitive skin. Another key change was avoiding aggressive acne treatments commonly used before, as these made my skin even drier and more inflamed. Instead, I opted for mild, non-comedogenic formulas recommended for sensitive skin. Consistent sun protection was essential since sun exposure can worsen redness and disrupt healing. I recommend a mineral-based sunscreen with zinc oxide that won’t clog pores. Most importantly, I sought advice from a dermatologist who evaluated my specific skin condition and guided me in selecting products suited for postpartum hormonal changes. Sometimes these breakouts are linked to hormonal fluctuations post-pregnancy, so professional guidance can make a big difference. Managing stress, getting adequate sleep, and maintaining a balanced diet rich in antioxidants also supported my skin’s recovery. Remember, every person’s skin responds differently, so patience and gentle care are crucial when dealing with postpartum skin challenges.
