Fang Temple, Ang Thong

Fang Temple is located in the 7th District of Bamboo Hibernation District, Vishnai District, Ang Thong Province.

It is an ancient temple presumed to have been built in the late Sri Ayutthaya period (around 1757).

It became an abandoned temple after the second loss of Sriyutthaya before being restored today.

The highlight of this temple is the old temple, where the window frame was covered by the roots of a large Bodhi tree, forming a natural entrance arch.

Many people call this the Gate of Time because of its quiet, calm, pleasant atmosphere.

And it feels like slipping into another moment of time.

There is also the Maha Utm Church, a church that forms solid walls, according to belief, used for the ceremony of incitement of auspices.

This was the place of the conjuration of the famous pundits of the Little River Basin.

The interior enshrines the old Buddha and the Rathconin Buddha marks.

Another key highlight is the whole carved sandstone rectory, built in 1993 by former abbot Provost Thammarat Arunai, characterized by combining ancient Khom art with Ratconin art. The building is designed as a sampan shape. According to the late Ayutthaya craze, the church is surrounded by carved motifs that tell stories of Buddha history and literature.

The Fang Temple reflects the diversity of arts and eras included in a single temple.

In addition, inside the temple are many kinds of large trees over 200 years old.

And the knowledge label is set up as the learning park of Ang Thong.

Fang Temple is therefore not just a place to pay homage to monks, but a space that combines history, art, belief and nature.
