While privatization could introduce innovation, it also demands rigorous regulatory frameworks to ensure private operators meet high security benchmarks. For small airports considering privatization, it would be essential to select vendors with proven expertise and adherence to federal security guidelines. Stakeholder input—including from travelers, airport staff, and security experts—would be critical in implementing such changes successfully.
