Immigrant Parents 🌹

Appreciation post to my parents. My parents worked/work too damn hard for all this to be happening right now. For them to be a potential target only becuase of the way they look or sound. They sacrificed/uprooted their life in Mexico to build a better one crossing the border. This is not the time to be quiet. Showing appreciation. Showing the great people they are and not the “criminals” they are painted to be. They are naturalized citizens. They are documented but never the less a target. #immigrantparents #childrenofimmigrants #abolishice

My parents, like many others, uprooted their lives in Mexico and bravely crossed the border to seek opportunities that were out of reach back home. Beyond their hard work, what stands out is their resilience in facing prejudice solely based on their appearance or accent. It’s heartbreaking that even naturalized, documented immigrants can become targets of discrimination and unfair assumptions. Society often paints immigrant families with negative stereotypes, labeling them as criminals or outsiders, which couldn't be further from the truth. My parents have contributed deeply to our community and worked tirelessly to build stability and success – stories that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. The phrase “son of proud parents immigrant” truly resonates with me because it reflects not just pride but also the strength and determination ingrained in our family story. On days when negativity feels overwhelming, sharing appreciation posts like this reinforces how important it is to speak up and support immigrant voices. If you know immigrant families or are part of one, remember the courage it takes to start anew in a foreign land. Their journey involves navigating cultural barriers, language challenges, and systemic hurdles, all while striving to create a safe and nurturing environment for their children. The current social climate calls for empathy and solidarity—not silence. This post is a reminder to thank and uplift immigrant parents everywhere. They are not just survivors but crucial contributors to our society’s rich tapestry. Let’s reject unfair labels and recognize their true identities as hardworking, devoted individuals who deserve respect and gratitude.
