眼睛突然模糊可能不是老花眼。
Many people often attribute sudden blurry vision to common problems like presbyopia or tired eyes. However, if you notice a sudden loss in clarity on the side of your vision, it’s important to consider other causes, such as diabetic retinopathy—a complication of diabetes that affects the eye’s blood vessels. Diabetes can silently damage the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye, without immediate symptoms. I was surprised to learn that many middle-aged and elderly people experience this condition unknowingly, which can eventually lead to irreversible vision loss or even blindness if left untreated. Additionally, polydipsia, or excessive thirst, is often a sign of fluctuating blood sugar levels. If you or someone close to you experiences blurred vision alongside symptoms like increased thirst or frequent urination, it could be a warning sign of uncontrolled diabetes. Protecting your eyesight starts with regular check-ups, especially if you have risk factors like diabetes or a family history of eye disease. Early diagnosis and management of diabetic eye problems can preserve your vision and improve your quality of life. Sharing my experience made me realize how crucial it is to raise awareness about this hidden crisis affecting many silently.
