Many people tend to underestimate the impact of high uric acid levels, thinking it only causes minor issues like occasional toe pain. From my experience, however, high uric acid is much more insidious. It often remains symptomless for a long time, quietly damaging joints and kidneys before any pain appears. In fact, gout attacks usually catch you off guard in the middle of the night, with intense pain in big toes, ankles, or knees that can be unbearable even when touched by a blanket. But beyond these sudden episodes, the real threat lies in the chronic effects on your kidneys. Long-term high uric acid can lead to kidney stones and decreased kidney function, which manifest as frequent nighttime urination or even more severe kidney problems. Awareness is key. Don't wait for pain to start taking action. Regular health checks, proper diet, and lifestyle changes can significantly reduce risks. I've personally found that managing my diet and staying hydrated helped control my uric acid levels and avoid severe gout attacks and kidney issues altogether.
