Thailand has one of the highest road accident rates in the world 🏍️around 20,000 people ☠️ every year from road crashes 😳

That’s about 25 ☠️ per 100,000 people, ranking it among the most dangerous countries for road travel 🛺

On average, that’s 30-40 people losing their lives EVERY single day on the roads 💀

And the craziest part? Motorbikes 🏍️ (which you see everywhere in Bangkok) are involved in the majority of accidents.

But we all gotta 🪦 one day

... Read moreLiving in Thailand, I've personally witnessed how prevalent motorbikes are on the roads and how quickly accidents can happen. Despite the chaos, many locals and tourists rely on these vehicles daily for convenience and affordability. However, the high accident rate—especially involving motorbikes—reminds me of the importance of staying vigilant while on the road. One thing I've noticed is that many riders don't always wear proper safety gear like helmets or protective clothing, which drastically raises their risk of severe injury or death. In addition, unfamiliarity with local traffic rules, aggressive driving, and the frequent weaving in and out of traffic lanes contribute heavily to accidents. Based on my experience, it's essential for both residents and visitors to adopt safe riding practices, such as always wearing helmets, driving at reasonable speeds, and being extra cautious at busy intersections. Also, using reputable ride-hailing services or public transportation can reduce personal risk. For those living or traveling in Thailand, understanding the dangers and taking preventive measures can save lives. Road safety campaigns and stricter enforcement of traffic laws have been improving the situation, but the daily toll remains high. Ultimately, embracing road safety culture is crucial for everyone to protect themselves and others on Thailand’s bustling streets.
