Starting college is a huge milestone not just for the student but for their entire family. Having watched my own younger sibling prepare for this big step, I can relate deeply to the mix of excitement, pride, and a bit of nervousness that comes with it. It’s amazing to see how much our relationships evolve during this transition. As an older sister, I often feel like a second mom—wanting to offer guidance and support while also cheering from the sidelines as they take on new responsibilities. One thing I’ve learned is the importance of open communication. Whether it’s helping with choosing courses, managing finances, or simply listening to their worries, being there emotionally can make all the difference. Our family always made sure to celebrate every small achievement, reinforcing confidence and motivation. Seeing the joy and pride reflected not only in myself but also in our mom underscores how tight-knit and supportive families can be during life’s big changes. These moments remind us to cherish our bonds and offer encouragement as our siblings pursue their dreams. Starting college signifies growth, new experiences, and exciting opportunities—and having a solid support system truly helps ease the journey.
