Cutting Coupon Chaos ✂️
This year, I’m saying goodbye to couponing just for the thrill of the deal! I realized my stockpile is overflowing with items I don’t truly need, so for #NoBuy2025 , my rule is simple: only buy what my household needs. No more random grocery runs just to snag a good deal!
Here’s how I’ll hold myself accountable:
1️⃣ Track my spending and stick to a strict essentials-only budget.
2️⃣ Use what I already have in my pantry before buying more.
3️⃣ Document my journey monthly to stay motivated.
If you’re thinking about joining the challenge, start with an honest look at your habits and stockpile, make a clear plan, and hold yourself accountable. Let’s save money and our sanity this year!

Hey everyone! I know a lot of you are probably wondering if couponing is still a thing, or how to get started if you're a beginner. I used to be deep into the world of coupons, from collecting circulars to signing up for coupons by mail, and even trying some extreme couponing tactics. And yes, coupons do still exist, and you can absolutely save money with them! However, my journey led me to realize that sometimes the 'thrill of the deal' can actually lead to overspending and a cluttered pantry, which is why I'm making a change for #NoBuy2025. For those of you looking for smart ways to save money on groceries, beyond just coupons, there are so many practical strategies to explore. My new focus for #NoBuy2025 is all about mindful spending. It’s about truly buying what my household needs, instead of being swayed by every good deal. This means no more random grocery runs just because an item is on sale, or ending up with a massive stockpile of things I might not use for ages. One of the first steps I recommend, whether you're a seasoned saver or just starting out, is to audit your pantry. Seriously, take a good look at what you already have. You might be surprised! I make a list of items I already have so I know what not to buy. Then, I plan meals around these items to reduce waste and save money. This helps me shop with a plan, focusing only on essential items. I also create a declutter plan for any excess items in my stockpile – selling or donating them can even generate a little extra cash! Beyond traditional coupons, there are fantastic modern tools that can help you spend less money on food. Have you tried receipt scanning apps? These are amazing for getting cash back on everyday purchases, often without even needing a coupon beforehand. Apps like Ibotta, Fetch Rewards, or Checkout 51 are some of the best receipt scanning apps out there. You just snap a picture of your grocery receipt, and they give you points or cash back for eligible items. It's a great, low-effort way to add to your savings! Many of these apps also offer digital coupons within their platforms, bridging the gap between old and new saving methods. Ultimately, whether you're exploring couponing for beginners, extreme couponing, or just want general saving money tips, the goal is to make your money work for you, not the other way around. My #NoBuy2025 journey is teaching me to be more intentional, track my savings by noting what I would have spent on non-essential deals, and even creatively repurpose unused deals or items I already bought. It’s about more than just saving money; it’s about saving sanity and making smarter choices for the long run. If you’re trying to figure out how to spend less money on food, remember that planning and accountability are key!
