Just a little makeup magic ✨💄

First time trying #Sigma quad 👍, #TirTir foundation 👎 & #Colourpop lip kit 👍. The Sigma formula is so easy to work with & the shades in this quad are so beautiful. I selected my TirTir shade from multiple samples, but turns out it's too warm; it also doesn't melt into the skin, magnifies pores and is drying, even on my combo oily skin. Run & buy the Colourpop Plumping Gloss balm and lip liners with a light, pleasant tingle that apply and blend smoothly, like a dream.

... Read moreIt's a common story, isn't it? You get excited about trying a new foundation, you painstakingly pick a shade, and then... it's just not right. My recent experience with the TirTir foundation being too warm and emphasizing pores is something many of us can relate to. Finding that perfect base can feel like a quest, but with a few pointers, you can 'crush those bubbles' of frustration and find your holy grail! First off, let's talk about undertones. This is HUGE. Foundations aren't just light, medium, or dark; they also have undertones – warm (yellow/golden), cool (pink/red/blue), or neutral. If your foundation looks too "orange" or "ashy," it's likely an undertone mismatch. A quick way to check your own: look at the veins on your wrist. Blue/purple veins usually mean cool undertones, green veins mean warm, and a mix of both suggests neutral. Always test foundation on your jawline, not your hand, and ideally in natural light. Let it sit for a few minutes to see how it oxidizes before making a decision. Beyond shade, the formula itself is crucial, especially as our skin evolves. For those of us navigating beauty over 40 or 50, skin often needs more hydration. A foundation that feels drying or settles into fine lines, like I found with the TirTir, means it’s time to re-evaluate. Look for formulas described as hydrating, luminous, or serum-foundations. Prepping your skin with a good, moisturizing primer can make a world of difference, too, creating a smooth canvas and preventing products from clinging to dry patches or magnifying texture. Another game-changer for mature skin is embracing cream products. While I love a good setting powder for my T-zone, relying heavily on powders all over can sometimes enhance fine lines and look a bit flat. That's why I'm such a fan of cream blushes and bronzers, like the Colourpop Cream Blush I mentioned. They melt into the skin, giving you a more youthful, 'quick glossy' and natural flush. And speaking of lips, don't underestimate the power of a plumping gloss balm! Hydrated, fuller-looking lips instantly make a difference, and the Colourpop kit is a fantastic example of a 'run and get this' product that delivers. Ultimately, makeup is about feeling good in your skin. Don't be afraid to experiment, and don't be discouraged by products that don't work out. Every "miss" gets you closer to a "hit," and sharing those honest experiences helps everyone in our beauty community make more informed choices!
