... Read moreHey creative souls! You know those moments when a random object just screams inspiration? For me, it was literally a Mtn Dew drink can! I've always been fascinated by vibrant colors, and that iconic bright green and sunny yellow really sparked something in my mind for a new makeup challenge. I thought, 'What if I could become a 'Mtn Dew girl' for a day?'
My main focus for this look was definitely the eye makeup, as I wanted to capture that electric, fizzy pop. I started by laying down a super pigmented yellow shadow all over my lid, really packing it on to get that intense color. Then, I blended in a shocking neon green on the outer corner, sweeping it onto the lower lash line to create a bold, almost winged effect. To add some extra sparkle and reflect the 'fizz' of the drink, I pressed a shimmery green glitter over the lid. The details matter, right? And yes, those red contact lenses were an absolute must! They added that unexpected, edgy twist that makes the whole Mountain Dew eyes concept truly unique and stand out. It’s amazing how a small detail can transform the entire vibe.
But why stop at the eyes? To really elevate this creative and colorful aesthetic, I decided to take it a step further. You might have noticed the mask – well, I actually crafted that from actual green and yellow Mtn Dew cans! It was such a fun, hands-on challenge to incorporate that physical, literal element of the drink. It really made the whole concept come full circle. And speaking of full circle, my blue hair naturally complements the whole vibrant, 'cool' and slightly edgy vibe of Mtn Dew, making the entire look cohesive. I even found a teal lipstick that perfectly matched the blues and greens in my eye makeup, tying everything together from head to chin!
If you're feeling inspired to try your own themed makeup, whether it's 'dew makeup' or something else entirely, here are a few tips I picked up:
Study Your Inspiration: Really look at the object or concept. What are its dominant colors? What are the accent colors? For Mtn Dew, it was clearly green, yellow, and a bit of white for highlights.
Don't Shy Away from Bold Pigments: Themed looks are meant to be eye-catching! Go for highly pigmented shadows, liners, and even lip colors. Layering can help achieve intensity.
Add Textural Elements: Glitter, gems, or even small crafted pieces like my can mask, can seriously elevate the uniqueness of your look. Think about what textures represent your theme.
Think Beyond Just the Face: How can your hair color (like my blue hair), accessories, or even clothing complement the theme? My blue hair was a happy accident that fit perfectly, but you could plan it out!
Experiment with Unexpected Accents: Like my red contacts, sometimes a contrasting color or an unusual element can make the whole look pop and feel more artistic.
Have Fun and Document: This is art, and it should be enjoyable! Don't be afraid to experiment, make mistakes, and then share your creative journey.
This Mtn Dew makeup look was such a blast to create. It pushed my boundaries, especially with the upcycled can mask, and resulted in something truly unique and fun. I hope it gives you some inspiration for your next creative makeup adventure!
