Homemade marinated Trout
Marinated trout! Came out bomb. If you guys want to see how I make it, comment in and let me know. So easy. You’ll thank me later 😏
Okay, friends, you guys absolutely loved my last post about the marinated trout, and so many of you asked for the recipe – so here it is! I'm genuinely excited to share my go-to method because it’s not just easy; it consistently delivers the most flavorful, tender trout every single time. It truly comes out tasting "bomb," as I said before, and I promise you’ll be super proud of it. First things first, why marinate trout? For delicate fish like trout, a good marinade does wonders. It doesn't just infuse incredible flavor into the flesh, but it also helps keep the fish moist and tender during cooking. My secret is a balance of acid, oil, and aromatics that really complement the natural taste of the trout without overpowering it. Here’s what I use for my 'bomb' trout marinade, adjust for the number of fillets you have! My Easy Marinated Trout Recipe: Ingredients: 2-3 trout fillets (skin on or off, your preference) 1/4 cup olive oil (extra virgin for flavor!) 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (or lime juice for a zippier kick!) 1 tablespoon soy sauce (adds umami depth, trust me on this one!) 2 cloves garlic, minced (fresh is always best) 1 teaspoon dried dill (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped) 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (for a lovely color and subtle smokiness) Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat) Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste Instructions: Prepare the Trout: Pat your trout fillets very dry with paper towels. This helps the marinade stick better and ensures a better sear later if you're pan-frying. Mix the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, dill, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper until well combined. Give it a taste – you want it to be vibrant and well-seasoned. Marinate the Fish: Place the trout fillets in a shallow dish or a zip-top bag. Pour the marinade evenly over the fish, making sure all surfaces are coated. If using a dish, you might want to flip the fillets once or twice. Chill Out: Cover the dish or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 1-2 hours. Trout is a delicate fish, and too much acid can start to "cook" it (like ceviche), changing its texture. An hour is usually perfect for maximum flavor penetration without compromising texture. Cook Your Trout: Once marinated, remove the trout from the fridge. You can pan-fry it (my favorite!), bake it, or grill it. Pan-Frying: Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Place the trout skin-side down (if applicable) and cook for 3-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until golden and flaky. Baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through. The aroma while it's cooking is just divine! I love serving this marinated trout with a simple side salad, some roasted vegetables, or fluffy rice to soak up any extra juices. It’s truly a versatile dish that feels gourmet but is incredibly simple to pull off on a weeknight. Give it a try, and let me know how it turns out for you in the comments below! I'm pretty sure you'll be adding this to your regular rotation.
