Another mistake was layering too many active ingredients like acids and retinol. While these can be beneficial, using them all at once caused irritation and redness on my skin. I learned to introduce one active at a time and give my skin a few weeks to adjust before adding another. I also avoided moisturizers because of my oily skin until I realized skipping them made my skin worse. Using a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer helped balance my skin’s oil production and prevented the dryness that causes bumps. Touching or picking at blemishes is tempting but spreads bacteria and can cause scarring or dark marks.
