Our imagination runs wild—it doesn’t follow rules, doesn’t care about right or wrong, and answers to no one. It can take a small worry and blow it up into something huge, making things seem way worse than they actually are. We stress over things that haven’t even happened, picturing every possible bad outcome. Most of the time, reality isn’t nearly as scary as what we’ve built up in our minds. But imagination isn’t all bad—it’s also where creativity, dreams, and new ideas come from. It’s just about knowing when to rein it in and remind ourselves that not everything we imagine is real. Sometimes, we suffer more in our heads than we ever will in reality.
