McDonald’s..collab?? 🍔😂

I had a bunch of Big Mac sauce packets and a steak that needed to get used before it went bad, so naturally I made Big Mac Focaccia. Used the viral Bon Appetit focaccia recipe as my base, folded thinly sliced onions and Big Mac sauce packets right into the dough, then topped it with more onions, more sauce, and pepperoncinis because I didn't have pickles and improvising is half the fun. Dimpled it, let it rest, baked it, then turned the whole thing into a Big Mac steak sandwich: sliced steak, pepperoncinis, mustard, lettuce, cheese, tomato. This might be the best thing I've made all year. Focaccia experiments are officially a series now.

... Read moreExperimenting in the kitchen often leads to the most memorable meals, and making a Big Mac Focaccia sandwich is a perfect example of creative cooking. Using Big Mac sauce directly in the dough adds a tangy and savory depth that sets the focaccia apart from traditional recipes. I found that folding the sauce and thinly sliced onions into the dough before baking helped infuse every bite with those iconic flavors. One important tip is to let the dough rest well after dimple-ing it; this step really helps the focaccia develop a light and airy texture that contrasts nicely with the rich sauce. Since pickles are a classic Big Mac component, I used pepperoncinis as a spicy and crunchy alternative. They also complement the juicy sliced steak on top beautifully. Building the sandwich with layers of mustard, fresh lettuce, cheese, and tomato balances the boldness of the sauce and steak. In my experience, this layered approach creates an irresistible combination with each mouthful offering a mix of tangy, savory, and fresh flavors. If you’re inspired to try this recipe, feel free to adjust the toppings based on what you have at home. Using ingredients you need to use up—like leftover steak or packets of your favorite sauces—can turn a simple meal into an exciting culinary project. Plus, focaccia bread is forgiving and versatile, making it a great base for many creative sandwich ideas. Give it a try and enjoy the fun of improvising your own Big Mac-inspired focaccia creation!
