Many people may have seen images of King Jigme Keser Namkel Wangchuk, known to Thais as "King Jigme of Bhutan," often alongside members of the Thai royal family at important national events, and may wonder - why is he so close to the Thai royal family?
King Jigme has reigned since 2006, when he was only 26 years old, as one of the youngest kings in the world at that time, he was loved by the people of Bhutan because he based the concept of "Gross National Happiness" on people's quality of life, not just economic growth.
The relationship between Bhutan and the Thai royal family has been strong for a long time, especially during the reign of King Rama IX and King Sirikit, who warmly welcomed King Bhutan and his predecessors. That bond has continued to the present generation when King Jigmi and Queen Jetsun Pema visited Thailand many times on the occasion of the blessing and at important national ceremonies.
So many Thais feel attached to him because he is simple, close to the people and shows sincere respect for the Thai monarchy.
King Jigme is therefore not only the "leader of Bhutan," but also a "true friend of Thailand" with the fiber of friendship between the two dynasties, long-linked and always magnificent. 💛
กษัตริย์ภูฏาน หรือ สมเด็จพระราชาธิบดีจิกมี เคเซอร์ นัมเกล วังชุก เป็นผู้นำระดับสูงที่มีบทบาทโดดเด่นในภูมิภาคเอเชียใต้ พระองค์ทรงขึ้นครองราชย์เมื่อปี 2006 ด้วยพระชนมพรรษาเพียง 26 ปี จึงได้รับการยกย่องว่าเป็นกษัตริย์ที่อายุน้อยที่สุดคนหนึ่งในโลกในเวลานั้น หนึ่งในเหตุผลสำคัญที่ทำให้พระองค์ได้รับความรักจากประชาชนในภูฏานคือแนวคิด "ความสุขมวลรวมประชาชาติ" หรือ Gross National Happiness (GNH) ซึ่งเน้นส่งเสริมคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีของประชาชนมากกว่าเน้นเพียงการเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจเพียงอย่างเดียว แนวคิดนี้ได้รับการยอมรับและกลายเป็นหลักสำคัญในการพัฒนาประเทศภูฏานอย่างยั่งยืน ส่วนความสัมพันธ์ที่แน่นแฟ้นระหว่างราชวงศ์ภูฏานและราชวงศ์ไทยนั้นมีรากฐานที่ยาวนาน โดยเฉพาะในช่วงรัชสมัยของ ในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 9 และสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ฯ ที่ให้การต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นแก่กษัตริย์ภูฏานและพระราชวงศ์รุ่นก่อน การเยือนไทยของพระราชาธิบดีจิกมีและพระราชินีเจตซุน เปมาในโอกาสสำคัญจึงสืบทอดไปยังรุ่นปัจจุบันอย่างต่อเนื่อง นอกจากนี้ พระองค์ยังทรงแสดงความเรียบง่าย โปรดใกล้ชิดประชาชน และให้ความเคารพต่อสถาบันพระมหากษัตริย์ไทยอย่างจริงใจ ซึ่งสร้างความประทับใจและทำให้คนไทยรู้สึกผูกพันกับพระองค์อย่างลึกซึ้ง จึงไม่น่าแปลกใจที่กษัตริย์จิกมีจะได้รับการยกย่องว่าเป็น "เพื่อนแท้ของประเทศไทย" ที่รักษามิตรภาพระหว่างสองราชวงศ์ไว้อย่างมั่นคงและงดงามตลอดมา การเข้าใจความหมายและบทบาทของกษัตริย์ภูฏานจึงไม่เพียงแต่เปิดโอกาสให้เราเห็นถึงการเมืองและวัฒนธรรมของภูฏานเท่านั้น แต่ยังสะท้อนถึงความสัมพันธ์ที่อบอุ่นระหว่างสองประเทศในภูมิภาคอาเซียนและเอเชียใต้ที่มีต่อกันอีกด้วย
