I know my recent post about moving platforms might have sparked some questions, and I truly appreciate all your support. The truth is, I've been feeling a growing unease with how some of the bigger platforms operate, especially with all the talk about potential platform bans, just like we've seen with 'TIKTOK/LEMON8 BAN' discussions. It makes you really think about where your content and community truly belong. For ages, many of us have poured our hearts into building communities on apps owned by giants like Meta and those associated with Elon Musk. But lately, it’s become clear that their priorities don't always align with independent creators. It's frustrating to see how much lobbying and money go into suppressing competition, just to maintain their monopoly. I’ve personally experienced the shifts that make it harder for genuine connection and organic reach, and honestly, I just don't want to be a part of that anymore. I believe in a space where creativity thrives without constant algorithm battles or the fear of a sudden shutdown. That’s why I’m so excited about the platforms I’m transitioning to! I’ve done my research, and I’m looking for places that genuinely value creators and foster a more supportive environment. Rednote is a fantastic emerging platform focused on creator monetization and community, offering a fresh take on how we interact. Then there’s Fanbase, which I’m particularly enthusiastic about because it's Black-owned and built with creators in mind, giving us more control and better ways to connect directly with you. Of course, I’ll also be maintaining my presence on YouTube for longer-form content and Twitch for live streams and interactive sessions. These platforms offer a diverse range of formats, so there’s something for everyone, and I can continue to share my authentic self. You know, like rocking my favorite 'DOPE' t-shirt and just being me! It’s crucial for us to support platforms that prioritize their users and creators, rather than just corporate interests. This move isn't just about me; it's about finding sustainable homes for our vibrant creative communities. I want to make sure we can all stay connected, continue to share our stories, and engage in meaningful ways, regardless of what happens with the mainstream apps. For any fellow creators out there feeling the same way, I encourage you to look at your options. Don't be afraid to diversify your presence. It can feel daunting to start fresh or split your focus, but the peace of mind that comes from knowing your community is in a more secure and respectful space is invaluable. Think about your unique content and what kind of platform would best serve both you and your audience. Explore independent platforms, consider co-operative models, and always prioritize genuine engagement over fleeting trends. Let's make sure our voices aren't silenced by corporate decisions.
