Wildlife of Singapore!
January came and went in the blink of an eye! We were kept busy, rooted locally with several custom wildlife tours and everyone had a really great time! We showed tourists from all over the world and even locals - some of Singapore’s unique wildlife including a few troops of the elusive Raffles’ Banded Langurs! Even many mainland and offshore intertidal walks with a glimpse of a Yellow-lipped Sea Krait!
The birding tours were really productive as well as we hit several hotspots to get a couple of ‘star birds’ 🔥
Having participated in several wildlife tours around Singapore myself, I can say that the island’s biodiversity is truly impressive despite its urban environment. One of the highlights is definitely spotting the elusive Raffles’ Banded Langur—a primate species native to this region and increasingly rare due to habitat loss. These langurs are not only charming but also a testament to the importance of conservation efforts here. Beyond primates, intertidal walks along Singapore’s coastlines reveal fascinating marine creatures like the Yellow-lipped Sea Krait, a sea snake species that is harmless but rarely seen. I remember a morning birding session where we were lucky enough to glimpse the Malayan Colugo gliding between trees—a rare treat for any nature enthusiast. Additionally, smaller creatures like the Elegant Bronzeback snake and the diminutive Lesser Mouse-deer add to the island’s enchanting wildlife roster. For underwater enthusiasts, spotting the Polka Dot Nudibranch during coastal excursions adds colorful diversity to the experience. Overall, Singapore offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness diverse wildlife right in a metropolitan setting.
