First, keep all your important documents organized and accessible. Having a physical NRIC or ID helps streamline hospital admission, and don’t forget the admission letter from your doctor. Also, saving all your hospital bills is crucial since you might be eligible to claim certain expenses.
For the baby, packing a few basic items like a couple of rompers, mittens, socks, a hat, and a blanket or swaddle is sufficient. Most hospitals provide essentials like diapers, wipes, milk bottles, and disposable teats, so you don’t need to bring extras.
New moms benefit from bringing overnight underwear, especially ones designed to handle post-delivery flow comfortably. The Kotex Herbal Overnight Panties are highly recommended for their comfort and leak protection. Having comfortable discharge clothes and layers like a cardigan and socks will keep you cozy during your stay.
If you plan to breastfeed and use a breast pump, bringing your pump is a good idea. Many hospitals have lactation consultants who will assist you with using the pump correctly and choosing the right flange size, which can be invaluable for first-time moms.
For dads or partners, packing a couple of clothing sets, a jacket, and phone chargers ensure they’re comfortable and connected during the hospital stay.
Ultimately, hospitals often provide staples such as toiletries—including soap, shampoo, and toothbrushes—as well as baby diapers and wipes, so it’s best to check with your hospital beforehand to avoid bringing unnecessary items.
Packing light with only what you need helps you stay relaxed and focused on the exciting moments after delivery. Happy packing and best wishes for your new arrival!
