BLW Meal Ideas

Our pediatrician told us when he cleared our son for regular food at 6 months old that “food is just for fun”. Meaning, don’t be upset if he doesn’t eat regular foods as you’re only introducing them as something to try. His main source of nutrients would still be formula.

Little did we know, our son would be taking food SO SERIOUSLY. He loves to eat! We’ve tried so many things and the only food so far that he wasn’t super thrilled with was cucumber. But he’s eaten just about everything from ribs that daddy smoked to lasagna!

But I don’t want that to discourage anyone because under a year FOOD IS JUST FOR FUN! So, if your little isn’t too keen on certain foods that’s okay!

I also learned that when you’re trying a new food, your baby is likely to gag and make faces. That doesn’t mean they don’t like the food! It’s a new texture and it may take up to 20 times of trying that food before they actually decide they don’t like it.

These are just some recent meals my son has been loving on repeat!

... Read moreBaby-led weaning (BLW) is all about empowering your child to explore food at their own pace. As parents embark on this journey, having a variety of meal ideas can make the process smooth and enjoyable. Meals like multigrain toast with strawberry jam, banana, and eggs easily captivate a baby's taste buds while offering essential nutrients. Incorporating foods like avocado on toast with peanut butter not only provides healthy fats but also introduces diverse textures and flavors that will entice your baby to try new foods. Cooking chicken and shredding it to serve with sautéed pastina and mushrooms can also be a hit, providing a nutritious, protein-rich option. Remember that in the early stages of your baby's eating journey, it’s essential to share the experience without pressure. Try not to be discouraged if some foods aren't instantly favored; persistence is key. The introduction of new flavors might require multiple attempts, and that's completely normal. Embrace the mess and the joy of discovering new foods with your little one!
