I wrote How Forgiving Saved My Life while I was still walking through bitterness and unforgiveness.
Every page was a battle.
Every chapter was a layer God was peeling off of me.
I didn’t realize how much hurt I was putting myself through — guilt, replaying arguments in my head, wrestling with conversations that never happened, holding onto pain that wasn’t helping me heal.
I was praying Psalm 51…
but still hoarding guilt.
Still carrying bitterness.
Still fighting invisible battles with the person who hurt me.
Forgiveness wasn’t overnight for me.
It was a daily walk with the Lord.
And as I walked with Him, He showed me who I would’ve become if I didn’t let go… and who I could become if I did.
He taught me to release the people and the person to Him —
so He could work on them…
and free me.
Forgiveness saved my life.
And that’s why I wrote this book.

... Read moreForgiveness is often one of the most challenging yet liberating experiences we can go through in life. From my own journey and what I’ve witnessed in others, holding onto bitterness and guilt can become a silent prison, consuming our thoughts and emotional wellbeing. The author’s honest account of battling inner turmoil and learning to walk daily with faith highlights a universal struggle.
Incorporating spirituality, especially engaging with scriptures like Psalm 51, can offer a framework for many seeking to release pain. However, as the narrative shows, forgiveness is rarely instantaneous—it requires patience, continual reflection, and sometimes, surrendering control.
One of the most powerful revelations is learning to release not just the offense but the person who hurt us into a higher power’s hands, which can foster emotional freedom and healing. This process often brings unexpected joy and a renewed sense of self, as bitterness fades and personal growth begins.
For anyone grappling with unresolved pain, this story encourages a compassionate approach toward oneself and others. It’s a reminder that forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or excusing hurt, but rather choosing freedom and peace over ongoing suffering. Reading such personal testimonies can motivate and equip readers with hope and strength on their own paths toward forgiveness.
