why do we describe our hair like this? 😕

let's change these stereotypes 😌 4c really isn't hard to work with when u know what to do.

1. figure out your porosity.

this is more important than texture

2. figure out your density.

just bc your hair is naturally thin does NOT mean it's unhealthy

3. embrace your hair in its natural state.

if you're not ready to do this, the other steps aren't important. Your hair can be "done" with frizz, shrunken doesn't mean ugly, and your edges do not have to be laid 24/7.

But this doesn't also mean ur hairstyles always have to give secretary. u can still be cute with low manipulation but we don't get anywhere if we keep using language like this in a negative way

... Read moreUnderstanding your hair type, especially 4C, is key to proper care. 4C hair is often misunderstood and labeled as hard to manage, but this couldn't be further from the truth. First, focus on porosity. Knowing how your hair absorbs and holds moisture is crucial for choosing the right products. High porosity hair absorbs water quickly but loses it just as easily, while low porosity hair requires products that can penetrate the hair shaft. Next up is understanding density. Hair density refers to the number of strands on your scalp; you can be thin and still have healthy hair. Embracing your natural curls is empowering! Many people view frizz or shrinkage negatively, yet these are normal characteristics of 4C hair. Accepting your hair's unique texture helps build confidence and allows for more creative styling. If you’re hesitant to embrace your natural texture, consider low-manipulation hairstyles that maintain your hair's health while still being cute. Use positive language and focus on the beauty of your natural hair to help combat negative stereotypes. Because they don’t know how to care for it so they label it as bad, ugly, or problematic! Vs their expectations off a looser curl. I have 4 hair and I absolutely love it. I had to learn to love the skin I’m in 🥰❤️ and those steps you said as well
