Bad Apartment Management (The Holt On Chisholm Trail)
I moved into my apartment a month ago, everything was perfectly fine on move in day so I thought considering I didn’t get settled until 2am. The next morning I wake up with nothing but ant bites all over me and I wake up with extreme heat inside the apartment. I look and it’s 96 degrees inside, we contacted the leasing office about this matter which they said they would bring a maintenance guy and they never did. We had to call again later in the day just for them to say they’ll be there tomorrow. As we’re tryna cook dinner the sink starts leaking cause water leakage all over the floor so we couldn’t use our sink or cook dinner. The next day the maintenance guy came to fix the sink and for the AC he just told us if it’s hot inside then to just buy curtains 😐I have asthma and eczema so the apartment was reaching extreme heats I only stayed in that apartment for 4 days of being moved in. It was so hot I had to go live with my mom again, we were told our apartment was renovated and refurbished which was never the case at all. We were also told it was cleaned but it wasn’t, when I cleaned it myself the towel I used turned brown. I called code compliance which they too said the apartment was very unlivable and they told the leasing office to give us a portable fan which they did not. The sink the guy didn’t clean none of his mess which led to me days later seeing the sink like this with mold and dirty water as I was trying to put things down there. I gave the apartment a 7 day notice to fix everything or I will break my lease and they didn’t bother to fix anything. After the 7 days me and my fiancé started packing our stuff up and left them a certified mail that I was breaking my lease and I also emailed them about this as well. They have yet to give me my deposit and remainder of pro rated rent we didn’t stay at the apartment back. I emailed them countless amounts of times and called them but they ignored every email and call but only emailed me when they were asking about rent for July. This is absurd and the fact that they wanted us to live in such conditions is ridiculous. The Holt on Chisholm Trail #apartmentproblems #apartment complex #apartmentinfestation
Living in an apartment with poor management can be incredibly stressful, as my experience at The Holt on Chisholm Trail sadly illustrates. When I first moved in, the apartment seemed fine initially, but within days, issues like extreme heat reaching 96 degrees inside and ant bites began affecting my health, especially with my asthma and eczema. Despite multiple calls to the leasing office, maintenance was slow and dismissive; their suggestion to simply buy curtains for the heat was unhelpful and irresponsible. Additionally, the leaking sink caused water damage and mold risk due to improper cleanup, further making the apartment unsafe and unhealthy. I was promised a renovated and cleaned unit, but the reality was far from this; cleaning myself left towels stained brown, showing a lack of proper sanitation before move-in. Contacting code compliance helped highlight how unlivable the unit was, yet the leasing office failed to provide even a portable fan, which was a minimum reasonable accommodation for the unbearable heat. The neglect culminated in me issuing a seven-day notice to fix these issues or face breaking my lease, which led to no action, forcing me to move back with family for health reasons. This situation emphasizes the importance of thorough inspections, proactive maintenance, and respectful tenant communication from apartment managers. If you find yourself dealing with similar problems, document everything, reach out to local housing authorities for code compliance inspections, and do not hesitate to take legal steps if necessary. A well-managed apartment community should provide a safe, clean, and livable environment — anything less can negatively affect your wellbeing and peace of mind. On a side note, the OCR images hint at the air conditioning system controls, possibly indicating an attempt to manage the environment through the fan system and temp settings, but it was clearly not effective. If you’re considering moving to or already living in a complex like this, check all systems carefully and insist on documented repairs and accountability from management.
