Blacksmithing

... Read moreAfter my first session at Lawless Forge, I'm genuinely buzzing! I knew blacksmithing involved working with metal, but I never fully grasped the exhilarating blend of physical challenge and creative satisfaction until I tried it myself. It's so much more than just hitting hot metal; it's an immersive experience for both body and mind. For my fellow fitness enthusiasts or even yoga practitioners, you’ll be surprised by the workout you get! Holding the hammer, striking the anvil with precision, moving around the forge – it's a full-body engagement. My core was definitely working, and the rhythmic hammering felt almost like an active meditation, requiring intense focus. It’s a fantastic way to develop upper body strength, improve hand-eye coordination, and even practice mindfulness as you concentrate on shaping the metal. Forget the gym for a day; this is a seriously engaging way to get active and create something beautiful. And speaking of beautiful, for all the artists out there, blacksmithing is an incredible medium! I saw some truly stunning blacksmith creations in the workshop, from delicate metal flowers with textured petals to intricate tools and even knife blanks. The process of transforming a simple piece of metal into something artistic is incredibly rewarding. You're not just following instructions; you're molding, bending, and shaping with your own hands, bringing your artistic vision to life. Imagine designing unique decorative pieces for your home or personalized gifts! Even for pet owners, there's a surprising connection. While I didn't make anything specific for my furry friend, I can totally see how you could forge custom hooks for leashes, unique wall art featuring paw prints, or even sturdy, decorative elements for a pet gate. It adds a personal touch to your home that you simply can't buy. If you're wondering how to get started with blacksmithing or looking for adult activities near you, I highly recommend looking for local workshops like Lawless Forge. Most places provide all the necessary blacksmithing materials – various types of steel, a forge to heat the metal, anvils, hammers, and tongs. They also provide safety gear like aprons and gloves, which are essential when working with hot metal. It’s usually a guided experience, so even beginners can jump right in and enjoy the process. It's not just about learning a new skill; it's about pushing your boundaries, getting a little gritty, and leaving with something truly unique that you crafted yourself. Plus, it's a fantastic way to meet new people and share a really cool, hands-on experience. I'm already planning my next session to try forging something new!

What slow living looks like for me lately🤍✨
My husband and I got coffee to watch the sunrise over the lake. I read in the sun with (more) coffee while he worked on his blacksmithing, then we had a little picnic lunch together when he took a break. We celebrated Valentine's with a takeout and horror movie date. Sunday was also slow; gym,
