A place where history is engraved. A trip to wish for peace at Nagaoka's ujigami "Hiragata Shrine"🕊️
On the way to Nagaoka sightseeing, I wanted to visit Hiragata Shrine. This is a shrine with a very old history, founded in 736, but in fact it is also a place with a sad history where the largest number of refugees gathered and many precious lives were lost during the Nagaoka air raid in 1945. The current shrine is made of very fine and sturdy reinforced concrete.
In the review, some say that concrete has no taste, but in fact, people s strong determination and wish to never cause such a tragedy again and never let people die in the air raid shelter (precincts) here is said to be put in. When you know it and touch the wall, you can feel the warmth. There is also a memorial tower for the war victims in the precincts (adjacent Hiragata Park), and prayers for peace are still offered.
It was not just beautiful, it was a place that touched the deep history and went out that stretched the spine. It is a place I want you to visit for those who like history and those who want to look back at themselves slowly.

平潟神社はただの観光地ではなく、長岡の人々の心の支えとなる場所だと感じました。訪れた際には、境内にある防空壕の壁に触れてみることをおすすめします。鉄筋コンクリートで作られているため一見冷たく感じますが、その裏には「二度と同じ悲劇を起こさない」という強い意志が込められており、触れるとじんわりと温かさを感じることができます。 また、隣接する平潟公園内の戦災殉難者慰霊塔は、歴史を忘れず、平和の大切さを伝え続けるための重要なシンボルです。空気が違うと感じられる静かな参道を歩きながら、長岡の人々が守ってきた歴史の重みを実感しました。 個人的には、歴史 巡りに興味がある方だけでなく、忙しい日常から離れ心を落ち着けたい方にもぜひ訪れてほしい場所です。青空の下で堂々と佇む拝殿の姿は、長岡の氏神様としての存在感と地域の絆を深く感じさせてくれました。 さらに、平潟神社は多くの神様を祀っており、参拝することで長岡の伝統や文化に触れることができます。新潟旅行の目的地としてだけでなく、深い歴史を体感できる貴重なスポットです。歴史好きの方だけでなく、大人の休日の過ごし方としてもおすすめしたい場所です。
