We managed to find a lovely shaded area, perfect for setting up our picnic, though some of the prime picnic tables were already taken. The entrance fee was super reasonable, just $10, and it wasn't overly packed, which made for a much more relaxing experience. You can explore the charming downtown area, grab an ice cream, or even find some easy hiking trails nearby that offer incredible panoramic views of the lake and surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s truly a gem for anyone looking for a refreshing escape from the heat and hustle of city life. If you're staying for a while, consider renting a kayak or paddleboard to explore the lake from a different perspective. Make sure to pack layers, even in summer, as the mountain evenings can get cool quickly.
