Are you afraid of snakes?

I just found this black and yellow snake on my screened in porch. Any suggestions for how to get rid of it? I have the door open but it keeps slithering right past it. #letschat #lemon8contest

... Read moreEncountering snakes can be unsettling, especially when they appear unexpectedly on your porch. It's important to remember that most snakes are harmless and play a crucial role in the ecosystem. If you find a black and yellow snake, it could be a garter snake, which is generally non-venomous. To safely remove it, first ensure your safety by keeping a safe distance. If you want to encourage the snake to leave on its own, provide an unobstructed exit path. Open doors or windows can facilitate this. Avoid trying to handle or capture the snake yourself, as this can lead to bites or harm to the animal. Instead, consider using a broom to gently nudge it towards the exit. If the snake remains, or if you're unsure of its species, contact a local wildlife removal expert for assistance. Additionally, to prevent future encounters, keep your yard tidy by removing debris and sealing entry points around your home. Regularly check outdoor spaces for signs of snakes and educate yourself about local snake species to better understand their behavior and habitats.
