Travel to China use 144 hour visa free transit

If you want to know the details, join this group https://www.facebook.com/share/7YvREGfGVN8C3EiT/?mibextid=A7sQZp, I will explain the policy works and summarize some frequently asked questions.

China has resumed the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, which allows people from certain countries to enjoy six days of travel to select areas of the country without applying for a visa beforehand. With the policy finally reinstated after three years of COVID-19 restrictions, we explain who is eligible for the visa-free transit and where in China you can travel on this special entry permit. Meanwhile, valid multi-year multi-entry visas that were issued before March 28, 2020, by overseas Chinese visa authorities shall resume function, meaning that foreigners that already has type of long-term visa (such as the 10-year business or tourist visa) can now enter China without additional visa application – provided it is still within the validity period. It is important to note that, in order to be eligible for visa-free transit, you must be going on to a third country after leaving China. Entering China under the visa-free transit policy when not continuing travel to a third country will be considered illegal entry to the country.#china #chinatravel #chinatrip #travel #reccommendations

... Read moreHey everyone! So, I recently had the chance to experience China's 144-hour visa-free transit, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for long layovers or quick side trips! Before my journey, I was a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out all the specifics, especially about what documents I'd actually need and how to navigate the airport. But now that I've done it, I want to share my personal insights to make your experience super smooth. First off, let's talk about the absolute essentials for your document checklist. Beyond your valid passport (make sure it has at least six months' validity and a blank page or two!), the most critical item is your confirmed onward flight ticket to a *third country or region*. Seriously, this isn't optional – they check this very carefully. I had mine printed out and also saved on my phone, just in case. You'll also need to fill out an Arrival/Departure Card (they’re usually available at the immigration counter or sometimes even on the plane). While not always mandatory to show, having your accommodation details (hotel booking) handy can also speed things up, especially if you plan to leave the airport. Don't forget your customs declaration form if applicable. Now, about navigating those bustling Chinese airports, especially a major hub like Shanghai Pudong (PVG) or Beijing Capital (PEK) – it can seem daunting, but it's actually quite organized. Once you disembark, follow the signs for 'Immigration' or 'Arrivals'. Keep an eye out for specific signs that say '144-HOUR' or 'Visa-Free Transit' – I spotted a clear blue sign at Shanghai pointing the way, which was a huge relief! These signs lead you to a dedicated immigration lane, which can often be quicker than the regular visa lines. You'll present your passport and onward ticket, and after a quick chat and biometric scan, you'll get a temporary entry permit stamped into your passport. A common query I had was about a "Shanghai airport transit visa." It's important to clarify that this isn't a traditional visa you apply for beforehand. Instead, it's a special entry permit granted on arrival under the 144-hour policy. So, if you meet the eligibility criteria (being from one of the approved countries and having that onward ticket), you don't need to apply for a visa in advance for this specific type of transit. Here are a few extra tips from my trip: Print Everything: While digital copies are great, having physical printouts of your onward ticket and hotel booking can be a lifesaver if your phone dies or you have connectivity issues. Stay Informed: Double-check the eligible cities and provinces for your entry point. For example, if you enter via Shanghai, you can usually travel within Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces. Don't plan to venture too far outside the designated area if you're on this transit. Time Management: The 144 hours start from midnight after your arrival day, giving you slightly more than 6 full days. Plan your short itinerary carefully to maximize your visit without overstaying. Connectivity: International roaming can be expensive. Consider downloading an offline map or getting a local SIM card/eSIM for your stay if you plan to be out and about. Remember that many popular Western apps are blocked in China, so a VPN might be necessary if you need to access them. Using the 144-hour visa-free transit was such a fantastic way to get a taste of China without the hassle of a full visa application. It opened up a whole new world for a short stopover, and I highly recommend it if your travel plans align! Happy travels!
