From my personal experience, I've found that acknowledging our human limitations and leaning into God’s strength rather than our own creates a powerful shift. The scripture in 3 John 1:11 reminds us, "Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God." This verse serves as both encouragement and guidance. When confronted with negativity or temptation, I try to consciously redirect my thoughts towards positive and godly actions, knowing that doing good is a reflection of God's presence in our lives. It’s not easy to resist evil impulses, but through prayer, meditation on God’s word, and surrounding myself with a faith community, I have felt more equipped to make choices aligned with goodness. The concept of being a "slave to evil" can feel overwhelming, but real freedom comes from accepting that while we can’t control everything, we can control our response by standing in God’s power. Trusting this strength helps break chains of fear, anger, or resentment. It encourages me to live a life marked by compassion, integrity, and hope. Practical steps I recommend are daily reading of scripture, like passages from the Bible (#Bible), embracing identity as God’s child (#godismyrock), and consistently seeking Jesus’s example (#Jesus) to inspire and motivate growth towards God's purpose (#godsword, #Biblical Motivation). This mindset transformation is a journey but a fulfilling one that leads to peace and resilience in a world where evil is present but does not have to define us.
