Stay Hydrated

One thing I learned this summer is the importance of drinking water. A dehydrated mom does not keep up with kiddo easy.

My son just started walking (and climbing) and staying hydrated is key for me keeping up with him. With my chronic illness if I don’t stay hydrated I have such a hard time keeping up with him.

This summer my hydration habits have been better than usual because of 3 new things.

1. Starting the day with 8oz of lemon water. Yep just 2 drops in 8oz before eating and it helps me get a jump start on how much water I’ll drink during the day. Use a glass or metal cup because over time the citrus oils can ruin plastic cups.

2. Always having flavored water cause plain water just tastes meh to me. I have been trying different flavored waters all summer and finally found the new Cirkul strawsip cup! Tip: when you don’t wanna use the cirkul flavors a Stanley lid fits the cup!

3. The Plant Nanny app. It is a constant reminder to drink water. Cause we are pretty much houseplants with emotions. I’ve been using it since January and already almost tripled the amount of water I drink in a day.

Here are more tips for maintaining hydration: 1. **Set Reminders**: Use apps or alarms to remind you to drink water consistently throughout the day. This ensures you don’t forget, especially when busy with kids. 2. **Infuse Your Water**: Adding fruits or herbs to your water can enhance flavor and make drinking more enjoyable. Consider combinations like cucumber-mint or strawberry-basil for a refreshing twist. 3. **Hydrating Foods**: Incorporate water-rich foods into your diet, such as cucumbers, oranges, and watermelon. These can contribute to your overall hydration while providing essential nutrients. 4. **Carry a Water Bottle**: Always keep a reusable water bottle handy. This serves as a visual reminder to drink and makes it convenient to have water on the go. 5. **Track Your Intake**: Keep a log of how much water you consume daily. This can help identify patterns and improve habits, enabling you to reach your hydration goals. By integrating these habits into your daily routine, you can significantly enhance your hydration levels, especially during the summer heat.
