Edo Era Kamijuba Town [Oneuchi-juku]
Snow-covered Ouchi-juku located in Minami-Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture
It's like going back in time.
Ouchi-juku is a post station town of "Shimotsuke Kaido" which connected Aizuwakamatsu and Nikko Imaichi in the Edo period
Daimyo and travelers of Sankinkotai come and go, and the life and townscape of that time are still carefully protected.
The scenery with thatched roofs lined up in a straight line was selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in 1981.
When the snow piled up, I felt tranquility and warmth at the same time, and it was a place where my heart calmed down just by walking slowly.
I want to change the season and visit again.

大内宿は、江戸時代の重要な交通路であった下野街道の宿場町として発展し、今もその当時の風情を色濃く残しています。私も実際に冬に訪れましたが、雪が茅葺き屋根に静かに積もった光景は、本当に時間が止まったような感覚を味わえました。大内宿の街並みは、車の乗り入れが禁止されているため、歩いてゆっくりと散策できるのも魅力のひとつです。歩くごとに歴史の息吹を感じられて、心が和みました。 さらに、この地域は参勤交代で多くの大名たちが通ったという歴史的背景もあり、町の造りや家屋の特徴にその名残を見つけることができます。重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選ばれているため、保存活動も盛んで、歴史好きの私にとってはたまらない場所でした。雪景色のほかにも春や秋など季節ごとの魅力もたっぷりで、また違った表情が楽しめます。 また、入口近くの駐車場から徒歩で訪れることで、車の音もなく静寂に包まれた景色を堪能できました。飲食店やおみやげ屋さんも適度にあり、温かい郷土料理を味わいながら旅の疲れを癒せるのもポイントです。歴史散策と自然の美しさを両方楽しめる大内宿は、国内旅行の新たな定番スポットとしてもおすすめできます。訪れる際は、防寒対策をしっかりして、ゆったりとした時間を過ごしてみてください。
