Super easy Cadbury cookie bars! 🍪💗
The perfect Easter treat! 🍪
Tollhouse cookie recipe (BUT with a twist)
•2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
•1 tsp. Baking soda
•1 tsp. Salt
•1 cup (2 sticks) butter softened
•3/4 cup granulated sugar
•Normally you would add 3/4 cup packed brown sugar now, but instead use half dark brown sugar and half normal brown sugar
•1 tsp vanilla extract (I measure with my heart)
• 2 large eggs
•as many chocolate chips as you want
• (optional) Cadbury mini chocolate eggs!
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 mins in a short pan (like shown in the video)
let cool down (also optional) , and enjoy!
If you're a fan of classic cookie bars but want to add a festive and flavorful twist, this Cadbury cookie bars recipe is a must-try. One of the key differences that elevate this recipe is the blend of half dark brown sugar and half normal brown sugar instead of using all light brown sugar. This mix not only adds depth to the flavor but also introduces a richer molasses undertone that perfectly complements the chocolate chips and Cadbury mini eggs. When baking these bars, using a short or shallow pan helps to achieve that perfect chewy and evenly baked texture. Make sure to soften your butter to room temperature; this will help with better mixing and result in a tender crumb. I personally like to add extra chocolate chips beyond what a typical Tollhouse recipe calls for — feel free to adjust according to your chocolate preference. If you want to make them more Easter-themed, the optional Cadbury mini chocolate eggs on top add a lovely color and milk chocolate bite. Baking at 350°F for about 15 minutes is ideal; keep an eye towards the end to avoid over-baking since the bars should be just set with a slightly soft center for that perfect gooey bite. Cooling the cookie bars before cutting is optional but recommended to help them slice cleanly. These bars are fantastic served slightly warm or at room temperature and make delightful treats for holiday gatherings, kids’ parties, or anytime you crave a chocolatey homemade cookie bar. Also, this recipe’s simplicity and twist make it a great base to customize. You can try adding nuts, coconut flakes, or even swirl in caramel for a decadent upgrade. It’s a versatile recipe that welcomes creativity while delivering that comforting classic cookie bar experience.
Forgot to say it comes out best when you soften the butter and blend the sugars with it!
