La Lechera Rice Crispies
I call them crack because I ate the whole first batch on my own and you probably will too!! 😱
Ingredients
12 Tbsp Butter
12 oz box of Rice Crispy cereal
16 oz bag of marshmellow minis
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 Cup La Lechera Sweet and Condensed milk
Directions:
First measure out all ingredients and line a 9x13 pand with parchment paper.
Seperate the marshmellows into 10 oz and 6 oz portions.
NOTE: If you do not have a pan big enough, add rice crispies to a large bowl big enough for you to add the marshmellow mixture together. This recipe uses the whole 12 oz box of cereal.
Step 1: Melt 12 Tbsp Butter in a large pot
Step 2: Add La Lechera and vanilla extract to the pot and bring to a simmer
Step 3: Slowly stir in the 10 oz of marshmellows until melted and smooth.
Step 4: Combine the marshmellow mixture and rice crispies together mixing until combined. Once slightly cooled add in the remaining 6 oz of marshmellows to the mixture and mix until evenly distributed.
Step 5: Using a piece of parchment paper, lightly press and evenly distribute the rice crispies into parchment paper lined 9x13 baking dish.
Step 6: Let cool for 30 minutes and slice and serve!
Note: Refregerate extra to keep fresh for up to 1 week.

Okay, so you've seen my recipe for these amazing La Lechera Rice Crispies, and trust me, they're called 'crack' for a reason! But let's dive a little deeper into why these aren't just any old cereal treats, and how you can make them even more irresistible, especially for anyone searching for 'cereal la lechera' ideas. First off, what makes these so special? It's all about that La Lechera sweetened condensed milk. While traditional Rice Crispy treats rely solely on butter and marshmallows for their sticky, sweet base, adding La Lechera elevates everything. It introduces a creamy, slightly caramelized depth of flavor that you just can't get otherwise. It's a game-changer! I discovered this little trick a while back, and honestly, I haven't looked back since. The way the La Lechera blends with the melted marshmallow mixture creates a smoother, richer, and frankly, more sophisticated gooey binder for your Rice Crisps cereal. Beyond the basic recipe, there are so many ways to customize your batch. While the original recipe is perfect as is, if you're feeling adventurous (or just have some extra goodies lying around!), feel free to get creative. For instance, why not fold in some mini chocolate chips right after you combine the marshmallow mixture and cereal? The residual heat will slightly melt them, creating little pockets of chocolatey goodness. Or, for a festive twist, add a teaspoon of peppermint extract along with the vanilla extract and a handful of crushed candy canes. You could even drizzle them with melted chocolate or a caramel sauce once they've cooled in the 9x13 baking dish. I've personally experimented with adding chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for an extra crunch, and they were a huge hit! Another tip for success, especially when working with the butter and marshmallows: don't rush the melting process. You want everything to be smooth and fully incorporated before adding the cereal. Overheating the marshmallow mixture can make your treats too hard, so keep the heat low to medium and stir constantly. And when it comes to pressing them into the pan, remember the golden rule: gentle but firm! You want an even layer, but if you press too hard, your treats can become dense and tough instead of delightfully chewy. Storing these treats properly is key to keeping them fresh and delicious. As mentioned in the recipe, refrigerating them can extend their life up to a week. I like to cut them into individual squares and then layer them between parchment paper in an airtight container. This prevents them from sticking together and makes it easy to grab one (or two, or three!) whenever a craving hits. They’re also fantastic for packaging up as homemade gifts or for school bake sales. Trust me, these La Lechera Rice Crispies treats will be the first to disappear! So, if you're like me and constantly on the hunt for new and exciting ways to use cereal and that wonderful La Lechera condensed milk, give this recipe a try. It’s more than just a recipe; it’s an experience. You might just find yourself calling them 'crack' too!
