... Read moreYou know that feeling when you just hit a wall, or maybe you've been on a weight loss journey for a while and you’re just done with going backwards? That's exactly where I was. But I’m here to tell you, I’m not going back – and my realistic weight loss graph proves it! It's not always a perfect downward slope, and anyone telling you otherwise isn't showing you the full picture.
When I started, I was at 205 lbs. It felt like a monumental task, but I committed. My journey, beautifully (and sometimes painfully!) captured in a line graph, shows the real deal. You'll see those dips and rises, those moments where the scale seemed to mock me. For example, between August 18 and October 6, I dropped from 205 lbs to 186 lbs. That's a fantastic 18 lbs since restarting, bringing my overall loss to a whopping 75.4 lbs! But even within that period, there were days, or even weeks, where the numbers just wouldn't budge, or worse, crept up a pound or two. That's the 'ups and downs' of it.
Dealing with those mental challenges is a huge part of this journey. There were times I wanted to throw in the towel, especially when I was doing everything "right" but the scale wasn't moving. That's when I learned to look beyond just the numbers. What truly kept me motivated was noticing the positive change in my clothing fit. Suddenly, jeans that were tight were comfortable, and I even had to buy smaller sizes! Those non-scale victories are just as, if not more, important than the scale.
For anyone looking at their own graph, remember that fluctuations are normal. Hydration, hormone cycles, muscle gain, and even stress can impact the daily or weekly number. Don't let a temporary stall define your progress. Focus on consistency with healthy habits. I found tracking my food, staying active, and prioritizing sleep made the biggest difference. And when you hit a plateau, sometimes a small change, like trying a new workout or adjusting macros, can kickstart things again.
It's truly incredible to think about the progress. To put it in perspective, I lost 75 pounds, and that's the same as an Emperor Penguin! It's wild to visualize that amount of weight. While I've come so far, I still have 46 lbs remaining to reach my goal, but with every step, every graph update, and every small victory, I feel stronger and more confident. If I can navigate the reality of weight loss, with all its bumps, so can you!
