Healing made me meaner...or did it?
Healing didn’t make me mean 😮💨
It made me stop overexplaining. Stop overgiving. Stop rescuing grown people from consequences that were never mine to carry ☕
Peace taught me boundaries… and boundaries feel different to people who benefited from your lack of them 🚧💛

Healing is often misunderstood as becoming harsh or uncaring, but my experience has been quite the opposite. When I embarked on my healing journey, especially in my 50s, it wasn’t about turning mean—it was about reclaiming my energy and emotional health. One major lesson I embraced was the power of boundaries. Before healing, I often found myself overexplaining my choices, overgiving to people who didn't appreciate it, and rescuing others from situations they needed to face themselves. This pattern, while coming from a place of love, drained me and blurred my sense of self. Through healing, I realized that setting boundaries isn’t about building walls but about defining your personal space and respecting your limits. Boundaries create peace, a space where you can thrive without unnecessary emotional exhaustion. It was eye-opening how those around me reacted differently once I stopped being the “go-to rescuer.” Some were confused or even resistant, but that only affirmed how much they had become used to my lack of boundaries. The journey of self-healing also helped me understand that choosing myself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. Confidence replaced the need to seek approval, and faith—in whatever form it manifests—became a pillar of strength to maintain these healthy practices. Integrating faith-based healing gave me additional resilience and a sense of purpose. If you’re on a similar path, know that healing means growth. Sometimes growth feels uncomfortable or misunderstood by others, especially when you start prioritizing your own well-being. But remember, true healing allows kindness without sacrifice, peace without guilt, and strength without harshness. Embrace your boundaries—they are a sign of love for yourself and a guidepost for healthier relationships.
