Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory disease characterized by an elevated number of eosinophils in the esophageal lining, which can cause symptoms like difficulty swallowing, food impaction, and chest pain. This condition is increasingly recognized as a significant cause of esophageal dysfunction both in children and adults. Diagnosis often requires an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), a diagnostic endoscopic procedure that allows direct visualization of the esophageal mucosa and enables biopsy for definitive diagnosis.
