6 months of trial and error to learn this 🍋

took me 6 months to figure out this routine but got my first 4.0 last semester 😭

the secret is working smarter not harder!

recording lectures instead of typing notes changed everything (utter does it all for you while you actually pay attention?!)

doing a detailed post about my study schedule tomorrow!

save this if it helped 🤍

... Read moreAchieving a 4.0 GPA wasn't magic for me; it was the result of a significant shift in how I approached studying. It took me about six months of trial and error to truly understand that success isn't about spending endless hours with your nose in a book, but rather about 'working smarter, not harder.' This philosophy became the bedrock of my academic turnaround, and I'm so excited to share the refined routines and tools that made all the difference, especially when preparing for those crucial exams. My journey began with transforming my daily study habits, integrating both a solid morning and night routine. In the mornings, I prioritize active learning. Recording lectures has been a game-changer; instead of frantically typing notes, I can actively listen and engage in class, knowing Utter AI is capturing every word. This allows me to review content more effectively later. After a nourishing breakfast (but saving my coffee for a bit later to avoid that morning jitters crash), I do quick quizzes before class. This primes my brain and reinforces concepts before diving deeper into new material. My evenings are just as crucial. The night routine isn't just about winding down; it's about consolidating the day's learning. I make sure to review all my notes from the day. Using Utter for creating flashcards has become essential for active recall and spaced repetition, making sure information sticks. I even sneak in some practice questions during my skincare routine – it’s amazing how much you can accomplish in small bursts! Before bed, I plan out the next day's tasks, which reduces decision fatigue and helps me hit the ground running. And, of course, getting to sleep by 11 PM is non-negotiable for proper memory consolidation and energy levels. The right study tools have truly changed everything for me. Utter AI, as mentioned, is my top pick for notes and flashcards, turning passive listening into an active learning process. For organization, Notion is unmatched; I use it to track assignments, create detailed study schedules for big exams, and keep all my resources in one place. When I need to focus, the Forest app helps me stay disciplined by physically growing a tree while I study, deterring me from picking up my phone. And for creating the perfect study environment, Spotify study playlists paired with my AirPods in the library block out distractions and help me concentrate for extended periods. Many of you might be looking for specific resources, like a "TEAS testing book," to prepare for important exams. While this article doesn't recommend specific test prep books, the strategies I've shared are universally applicable and will significantly enhance how you utilize any study material, including comprehensive test guides. For high-stakes exams, it’s not just about what book you have, but *how effectively you engage with its content*. Apply these methods: actively read, create your own summary notes (Utter can help!), practice problems relentlessly, identify your weak areas, and build a structured study plan with Notion. Integrate these routines, and you'll find yourself not just studying more, but studying smarter, leading to better retention and higher scores on any critical examination you face.
