In The Veins Of The Drowning 🌊 Quotes & Review
This story was seven years in the making and I was able to say these words to Kalie Cassidy in person, “Im so happy that it was the right time for you to bring this out into the world.” Romantasy is having its moment and it is the greatest genre in my opinion. There are so many stories that are in the works and are finally coming to light because it’s their time to shine. ITVOTD made its way and the stars aligned for it to make its mark.
There are so many reasons why this a top read of the year. I’ve never felt so one with a characters POV. The writing felt mature and personal and will intern make this a timeless classic for generations to come. The siren lore is told in such a way that it’s interpreted into a siren call when the world build takes over and pulls you into its insatiable magic, you won’t want to put the book down.
Imogen (FMC) is locked away in a castle far away from the sea that is part of her calling as a siren. The king who has her hidden has secrets and the unfolding of them will have you on the edge of your seat. Theodore (MMC) is broody and stubborn which makes for the perfect tension and vulnerability between the two and their bond that is beyond any forced proximity you’ve ever read. The romantic exchanges include a love letter and it made my heart ache for them.
The gothic eerie moments and the quest to find ones true self was so immersive and atmospheric. From start to finish infinity stars.
Thank you so much to Little Brown for sending me the #gifted ARC.
