HAMNET 🌻🥀🪾🌱 Review

It’s award season and this book turned film adaptation is getting all the buzz like I hoped it would after reading the story and seeing the film, having it completely destroy me, leaving a mark on my readers heart for eternity.

Even so, Im glad it came into my life now after my own self discovery journey and as a mother and wife. Most of the quotes I pulled are from or about Anges. I felt very connected to this character. She has a spiritual closeness to nature and knows who she is unapologetically. She was fully aware of how people perceived her, as being unusual, but let that be her superpower. Being lucky enough to find a partner who sees her and loves all of who she is.

Grief was a huge part of this book and was an emotionally charged way of viewing it. The biggest take away was accepting how people grieve differently and allowing the process of healing regardless the contrast way it is to your own. It could in turn create something as intimate as a stronger foundation between two partners, or something as extraordinary as the most renowned writer to ever use the English language.

What struck me most was how the story uniquely captures grieving as a highly personal and varied experience. This matched my own observations in life where grief isn’t a linear process; it can express itself in contrasting ways even between people who share a close bond - like partners or family members. The character of Agnes, with her deep spiritual connection to nature, especially resonated with me. She embraces her individuality, aware of how others perceive her yet choosing to let those perceptions fuel her strength rather than diminish it. That unapologetic self-awareness and confidence felt very empowering, reminding me of the importance of self-acceptance in my own life journey. Another thought-provoking aspect was how the story highlighted that grief can either create distance or build unbreakable foundations within relationships. The honest portrayal of complicated emotions and healing was refreshing and inspiring. The way the book weaves historical context with intimate human stories also reminded me how timeless themes like love, loss, and resilience transcend eras. From a personal point of view, HAMNET encouraged me to reflect on how grief and healing are not just about the individual but are influenced by the empathy and support shared by loved ones. It underscores how vital it is to allow each person their own way of processing pain. This review and the accompanying hashtags #hamnet, #bookreview, #goldenglobes, and #filmadaptation truly capture the essence of why this story is getting so much buzz—it’s raw, meaningful, and beautifully told. For anyone open to exploring the depths of human emotion through literature and film, HAMNET offers a profoundly moving experience.
