Summer’s Revenge 🌿 Review & Quotes
Indie author spotlight is on @emmacouetteauthor ✨ Emma is a wordsmith with the ability to sweep you into her fresh original story that is far off from any fantasy quest you could ever imagine. I was captivated by the characters and the found family history that unravels into an unforgettable tale.
The royal twins of Summer, Isan and Sky, find that their heart is set on revenge of the murder of their parents, but there are obstacles that they must face to prove their abilities are far greater than the training they have been sheltered to think is their potential.
Through their coming of age journey of war, unlikely friendship, and survival, they come across a mysterious person living alone in a forest feared by all, Echo, and the prophecy that it shared will change their lives forever.
I can’t even begin to explain my obsession with Echo. She has a soft fierceness that charmed me immediately. Her knowledge and strength in survival through circumstances far from her control, have contained her into a solitude of contemptment. Although, she yearns for purpose and friendship. The twin character growth was exceptionally satisfying. The battles scenes were some of the best I have ever read. Not overbearingly gruesome or brutal just to the point and had jaw dropping shock value. The fluiditiy of the storytelling felt like a movie and I forgot I was reading at times. I can’t wait to continue this series. The ending was gratifying but left me in a spellbound grip that will keep hold of me.
Thank you to Emma for the gifted copy that I will hold near and dear to me ! Currently reading book two and have three already on standby 💚🏹🌿

Okay, fellow bookworms, let's talk about something truly captivating: revenge fantasy cycles! If you're anything like me, there's a special thrill in following characters on a deeply personal quest for vengeance, especially when it spans an entire series. It's not just about getting even; it's about justice, transformation, and often, discovering who you truly are along the way. My recent obsession, Emma K. C. Couette's 'Summer's Revenge,' is a perfect example of why this subgenre hooks me every time. The royal twins, Isan and Sky, aren't just seeking revenge for their parents' murder; they're navigating a complex coming-of-age journey filled with war and survival. What makes these stories so compelling is seeing how the initial spark of vengeance evolves. It's rarely a straightforward path, and that's where the 'cycles' come in. In The Fidalian Chronicles series, you anticipate the layers of plot, the new allies, and the inevitable betrayals that make the journey so rich. One of my favorite aspects of 'Summer's Revenge' is the found family trope. When characters are stripped of everything, the bonds they forge with unlikely companions become their new foundation. And then there's Echo – what an incredible character! Her mysterious past and strength in survival reminded me of those profound fantasy quotes about souls becoming silent watchers in trees, holding deep wisdom. She's not just a plot device; she's a mentor, a friend, and a catalyst for change, helping the twins confront their fears and learn beyond their sheltered training, much like fighting fear and poison from within. The world-building in this series is also fantastic. The battle scenes, as I mentioned in my review, are incredibly vivid without being gratuitously brutal. You can almost picture the impenetrable tangle of plant life in a place like The Edgewood, adding to the immersive feel. These details really make you feel like you're right there with Isan and Sky, facing every obstacle. If you're looking to dive into more revenge fantasy cycles, don't just stop at the big names. Indie authors like Emma K. C. Couette are crafting some of the most original and captivating stories out there. They often bring fresh perspectives and deeply personal narratives that can surprise and delight. Look for themes of overcoming immense odds, characters driven by a strong sense of purpose, and intricate plots that weave through multiple books. Think about how the desire for revenge shapes not just the protagonist, but their entire world, creating ripples that echo through generations or across vast lands. Seriously, if you haven't picked up 'Summer's Revenge' yet, you're missing out on an incredible journey. And trust me, once you start, you'll be as eager as I am to see how the next cycle of revenge and redemption unfolds in The Fidalian Chronicles!
