The last book from my @fairyloot collection has been read ! I think the best part of that sub was of course how gorgeous they are and I was going into all of them blind. So in doing that this one caught me by surprise. I ended up enjoying it far more than I thought initially. The beginning took off slightly dreary but understandable given the circumstances of the FMC being the cause of a fatal storm when she was born. The picturesque backdrop and elemental magic drew me in. The dialogue evolved with charm, mystery, and comedic relief. It quickly transitioned into an addictive writing structure making it hard to put down.

Ive been enjoying character driven clever plots and this book gave that with multilayered characters. Im not a huge fan of trials but these were some of the BEST ones I have read since reading The Hunger Games, partly focused on self mastering your elements and mental state of mind. I also just devour a good love triangle especially when a mysterious MMC just shows up. The micro tropes were lightly showered through out and were so complimentary. The end left me in wonder and wanting more. I’m looking forward to book 2 this summer !
