Pride & Prejudice 💘 Review and Quotes

Finally getting to this and reading it for the first time was life changing. Austen had a brilliant way of setting up a scene showcasing each characters personality, feelings in the moment, location, and intention before anyone would speak and it felt like I was not only in the room, but in their shoes. Same intensity on screen was felt on paper.

The infamous proposal was completley electrifying and I had goosebumps realizing how much dialogue was used ,word for word, into a screenplay that I have memorized over the years. And after all these years I finally got to know in depth the coresspondence of the most dreadful news that were sent to Elizabeth from Jane.

I think my absolute favorite thing that came out of this new perspective was just how much Mr. Darcy truly loved Elizabeth. He really is the epitome of ‘if a man wanted to, HE WOULD’. Also, knowing exactly what was going through Lizzy’s mind, her putting together everything, and how she grieved what it would mean for him to be connected to her because of the life choices her sister had made. He found every avenue possible for them to be together.

I can’t wait to rewatch with a new set of eyes. Falling in love all over again making this a top read and a forever favorite.

... Read moreReading Pride & Prejudice for the first time truly opened my eyes to the intricate layers Jane Austen wove into her novel. The way she captures the subtleties of social interactions and the nuances of character emotions before a single word is spoken is unparalleled. It’s like stepping into the 19th century drawing rooms alongside Elizabeth Bennet and witnessing her lively wit and objections firsthand. One of the most striking moments for me was Mr. Darcy’s proposal scene, which the author perfectly describes as electrifying. Having watched film adaptations countless times, it was thrilling to experience the exact dialogue on the page that has been immortalized on screen. This revelation deepened my appreciation for how faithful some adaptations are to the text and how powerful Jane Austen's words are when read aloud or imagined. What stands out the most is Mr. Darcy's profound love and determination to be with Elizabeth, despite the complicated circumstances, especially involving her sister Jane's misfortunes. His willingness to overcome societal barriers and misunderstandings to unite with Elizabeth is a touching portrayal of genuine love in literature. Furthermore, understanding Elizabeth's internal conflicts — her reflections on pride, prejudice, and the implications of her family’s actions — adds so much depth to her character. It's a reminder that literature can provide insight into universal human experiences like judgment, growth, and forgiveness. For anyone diving into this classic, I recommend taking the time to savor the letters and correspondence exchanged within the story. They reveal not only plot details but also rich emotional undercurrents that often go unnoticed in film adaptations. Revisiting the story with this newfound understanding will definitely enrich future readings or viewings. Re-reading or re-watching with this perspective allows you to appreciate the novel’s timeless themes of love, societal expectations, and personal growth in a renewed way. Pride & Prejudice remains a perennial favorite that resonates across generations, encouraging readers to reflect on their values and relationships.
