From university professor to full-time business

Listen. My life has been quite the journey like so many others who are wives, mothers, and strong women for their families.

We make a lot of sacrifices, and we do it in love. There comes a time when you have to create balance to refrain from burnout. Unfortunately, the beautiful field of education was draining me. I needed a change.

I took a leap in December 2025 to pursue business full-time, and I haven’t looked back. Is it easy? Nope. But freedom that comes with it for my family and what I need right now is priceless.

If you are contemplating whether to go in business full-time, I say ask God. You will get a peace about it, and eventually, he will make a way for you to transition. For now, listen and get in position.

I love it here, and I will remain in this season as long as God approves.

As a former university professor who transitioned into business, I’ve come to appreciate how crucial it is to listen to your inner calling and seek guidance—whether spiritual or practical—before making such a leap. One important lesson I learned is the necessity of creating a balanced life to avoid burnout, especially as a wife, mother, and business owner. Juggling these roles requires intentional time management and self-care. For instance, carving out dedicated time for family activities and personal downtime has helped me maintain energy and motivation for my business pursuits. The freedom that comes from working on your own terms is incomparable. It’s not just about financial independence but also the ability to prioritize what matters most. This flexibility allows me to attend important family moments without the constraints of a rigid schedule. However, transitioning didn’t happen overnight. It involved thoughtful planning, gradual skill development in business areas I hadn’t explored before, and embracing vulnerability by stepping out of my comfort zone. Engaging with supportive communities such as #womanofvirtue and #womenentrepreneur groups can provide encouragement and valuable insights from others who’ve walked this path. For anyone considering a similar shift, I encourage a period of reflection and preparation—ask yourself what freedom means to you and how business ownership aligns with your values and family needs. When the timing feels right, and you have a clear peace about your decision, the transition can become a fulfilling new chapter filled with growth, purpose, and balance.
