Locs Work Wonders for Busy Wives & Moms
Last summer a spiritual transformation on the inside started to be more evident on the outside. Here are a few things I started doing:
1. Getting rid of stuff!
Things you don’t use should not be kept for any reason. It just collects dust when someone else could make use of it. You don’t need 5 of the same thing. Let it go.
2. Reducing the busyness.
Reducing the things I did and the extracurricular activities my kids were in. We don’t need to be in everything. We needed to choose a focus and do well in those few areas.
3. Focusing on my wardrobe.
I started working on a time capsule wardrobe, or my version of it, that reflected my new interests, look, walk, talk, and faith.
4. Getting my locs!!!
My microlocs would definitely make a statement about how I wanted to look and feel. They go through phases of budding, swelling, dropping.
They give carefree, island girl, free-flowing vibes. All the things I feel. I am carefree because I worry less. I love anything that has to deal with the beach, a lake, or body of water. I don’t mind going with the flow because when you know God is in control of everything, you simply let the master work. I transitioned from full-time education to business, and I love it. God said let some things go, and that’s what I did.
Hair is a form of expression, no matter how you view it. My locs reflect my outlook, my life, my vibes.

From my experience, choosing to have locs—especially microlocs—has been a game-changer in managing a busy life as a wife and mom. Locs are low-maintenance compared to many other hairstyles, which means less time spent on daily hair care and more time for what truly matters. This simplicity perfectly aligns with cutting back on busyness and focusing on quality activities, as highlighted in the original article. One thing I’ve learned is that locs allow for a beautiful expression of individuality and spirituality. Their natural ebb and flow, with phases like budding and dropping, mirror the personal and spiritual transformations many of us undergo. Embracing this natural progression has helped me let go of control and stress, reminding me to trust the bigger picture. Creating a capsule wardrobe, as mentioned, pairs well with locs. When you simplify your clothing choices to items that truly resonate with your style and values, your whole presence feels cohesive and intentional. Locs add that element of authenticity and easy elegance, whether you’re at work, school meetings, or family outings. Additionally, locs often carry a cultural and spiritual weight that deepens one’s connection to self and community. They celebrate natural beauty and heritage, empowering women to reclaim and celebrate their identity. For busy moms especially, this empowerment fosters confidence and joy amidst the daily hustle. Lastly, living a carefree and water-loving lifestyle, as the article mentions, means embracing flexibility. Locs stand up wonderfully to outdoor activities like swimming or beach time without losing their charm, freeing women to enjoy life’s simple pleasures without fuss. Incorporating locs with mindful decluttering and prioritizing activities forms a holistic approach to simplifying life and amplifying joy—one that I have found both practical and deeply fulfilling.
